If you thought that kavis (poets) and kavi sammelans were found only in places like Hyderabad and the likes, then, chances are that you were not a part of the attendance at ’Ek Dashak: Ek Kadam Kavi Sammelan’ that was held recently at the IDUBS School and Junior college, Bhandup. Speaking to Mulund Plus, Ajit Singh Sansoya, Hindi lecturer of the IDUBS and one of the organisers, said, "It was such a heartening thing to see the stalwarts and the doyens of the Hindi literary world come together on a common platform to perform for the students.
The basic reason to conduct this programme was to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the school’s very own ’Hindi Vichaar Manch’ (HVM), under whose flagship this event was held. HVM was launched by the school with the basic objective of unfolding and retaining the originality of Hindi literature amongst the present generation. And the title itself means that we have just taken a step towards the next millennium."
The people who graced this mega occasion included noted peots like Nandalal Pathak, Dr Anil Mishra, Hastimal ’Hasti’, Hridayesh Mayank, Yagya Sharma and the renowned critic Ramji Tiwari. Adding to Sansoya’s sentiments was Meena Singh, another teacher from the school, who says, "It is only because of the fact that Hindi is taught as a subject that we were able to gather so many audience. Moreover, the number of students who opt for Hindi against Information Technology (IT) being greater proves that the present generation has not compromised on the national language."
