Come December and one gets all geared up for the multitude of inter and intra college festivals. One such festival that enjoys a huge fan following is ’Manzil’ that is organised by the BMS section of NES Ratnam College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Bhandup.
Speaking to Mulund Plus, Latha Swaminathan, the chief co- oordinator of the BMS section of the college, said, "The main reason for us to name the festival as ’Manzil’ is because, ’Manzil’ in Hindi means destination. And after a whole lot of sweat and toil for academics, entertainment becomes the ultimate destination of each and every student. And this is exactly what we offer to not just each of our students, but also the students of the participating colleges."
Talking about the
various changes that this year’s festival witnessed, Latha adds, "The College has decided to do away with the sports activities and that vacuum is filled by the introduction of two innovatively created events called ’Effussion’ (a literary event that judges the creativity of the language skills of the
participants) and ’Business Quiz".
This year’s festival was inaugurated by Vijay Kalantri, the President of the All India Industries
Association (AIIA), and Manjaya Shetty, managing director of Abhyudaya Bank, who graced the
function. Around 25
colleges participated this year.
Speaking about the USP of ’Manzil’, Vijaydurai Nadar, an ex-student of the college says, "Manzil has always been a huge learning experience for all the students, as it gives us, the students, a practical hands-on experience of all the theory that we have been doing the year long." The finishing shot rightly belonged to Latha Swaminathan, who summed it up saying, ’Today, the BMS students theoretically belong to the corporate world. Manzil simply prepares them for tomorrow’s corporate world".
